OCTOBER ENTERTAINMENT AT BLUESVILLE SHOWCASE NIGHTCLUB

R&B artists Latimore, Tutu Jones, and Carla Thomas perform live Friday, October 5 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $26.50 plus taxes and fees and are available at Ticketmaster.com through this link:  https://bit.ly/Latimore, Tutu Jones, and Carla Thomas. Guests 18 and older are admitted if accompanied by an adult 21 years-of-age or older.

Information from www.allmusic.com:

“Deep-voiced Latimore‘s sultry mid-’70s output for Miami’s Glades label was a steamy marriage of soul and blues. Initially billed as Benny Latimore, the Tennessean began recording for Miami mogul Henry Stone in 1965, and his late-’60s Dade singles are solid deep soul. Dropping his first name on Glades, Latimore finally found stardom in 1973 with a jazzy reading of T-Bone Walker‘s “Stormy Monday.” He topped the soul lists in 1974 with the anguished “Let’s Straighten It Out,” a simmering soul/blues hybrid, and encored with the incendiary “Keep the Home Fires Burnin'” the next year.”

“In the glorious decade and a half of sound that was Stax in the ’60s and early ’70s, Carla Thomas was the Queen of Memphis Soul. She was born in Memphis in 1942, and 18 years later she recorded a duet with her father Rufus Thomas, giving the fledgling Satellite label its first taste of success with the regional hit “Cause I Love You.”

“The son of Dallas-based R&B guitarist John Jones, Tutu Jones was truly a product of his environment — growing up in a house frequently populated by guests including Freddie King, Little Joe Blue and Ernie Johnson, his own future as a bluesman was never in doubt.”

Information from www.iamcedric.com:

“Charismatic actor / comedian Cedric “The Entertainer” is best known for his many crowd-pleasing performances in such hit films as Barbershop, Be Cool with John Travolta, Madagascar, Intolerable Cruelty with George Clooney, Johnson Family Vacation (the 2004 box office hit in which Cedric was both star and producer), and The Original King of Comedy (MTV’S phenomenally successful documentary feature directed by Spike Lee), to name a few.”

Information from www.mightyojays.com:

“The O’Jays are touring history, a connection to an era and a sound that formed the soundtrack for the lives of several generations. The O’Jays are still hitting the road with the same electrifying energy they’ve had for over 50 years.”

Songwriting legends Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen perform live Saturday, October 20 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start $46 plus taxes and fees and are available at Ticketmaster.com through this link: https://bit.ly/AnEveningwithLyleLovettandRobertEarlKeen. Guests 18 and older are admitted if accompanied by an adult 21 years-of-age or older.

Information from www.robertearlkeen.com:

“The two Texas songwriting legends share a forty-year friendship. This fall, they’ll also be sharing the stage. When fellow Texans Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen go on tour together this fall, it’ll be the latest chapter in a friendship that began when they were students at Texas A&M University. Back then, they’d sit on the porch of the house Keen rented and trade songs, just as they’ll be doing on stages around the country beginning in October.”
